Pen Pal Concierge
In addition to our core services and social club offerings, The Story Vault provides a thoughtful, concierge-style pen-pal service designed exclusively for our members. While handwritten letters may seem like a relic of the past, we believe in preserving the charm and intentionality that only analog communication can offer.

Rather than making member addresses public, we maintain a respectful, privacy-first approach. Members who wish to connect with someone listed in our Member Directory or Classifieds Page can request an introduction through us. To initiate contact, simply mail the following items to The Story Vault:

A reminder before you continue, this is a member only activity

A handwritten letter enclosed in a standard-size envelope (please ensure it’s stamped)

Two $1 bills or a Money Order addressed to The Story Vault for $2. This covers postage, repackaging, wax seal, and our small weekly delivery fee*

An optional printed photo of yourself (no larger than 4x6)

*Note: Letters are delivered to the post office every Thursday.

We will unpack the contents of your letter. The envelope addressed to us cannot be used again, and your $2 will be used for another stamp and delivery/repackaging fee. The contents within your envelope will be placed inside a new envelope, then sealed with our signature wax seal, and we will handle the delivery on your behalf.
Once the receiving member gets your letter, they’ll have the opportunity to either continue the connection or opt out of future correspondence. If declined, The Story Vault will notify the sending party via email.
If both parties wish to keep the conversation going, they may continue exchanging letters or, if mutually agreed upon, transition to digital communication. However, we encourage keeping things handwritten for as long as possible, to preserve the magic of the experience.

Should both members wish to correspond directly, bypassing The Story Vault’s concierge system, the receiving member must give us written permission to share their mailing address. If they prefer to keep their address private, the connection can continue indefinitely through The Story Vault, following the same secure and charming process.

Things to Note

Please tuck your $2 or money order securely inside your folded letter, or place it between your letter and photo. While the USPS does allow cash to be mailed, we strongly recommend concealing it within the letter to reduce the risk of theft during transit.

A quick etiquette reminder: this service is designed to revive a sense of old-school sophistication and charm. Please keep your language kind and respectful; avoid using obscene or derogatory terms. We aim to foster a warm, thoughtful environment for everyone involved.

We also encourage clear and considerate communication. When corresponding by mail, it can be difficult to tell whether someone is uninterested or if a letter simply got lost. If you’re no longer interested in continuing the exchange, please take a moment to send a final note or notify The Story Vault so we can pass that information along on your behalf.

No hard feelings, no drama, & only good vibes. If a connection blossoms, we’re thrilled to have played a part in it! If it doesn’t, that’s perfectly okay too. We kindly ask that any disappointment not spill over into our community events or social spaces. And if you ever receive a letter that makes you uncomfortable or violates our guidelines, please let us know right away so we can address it together.
